Shetland Womens FcShetland Womens fc are pleased to announce the launch of our official website. Over the coming months this site will feature news, match reports, information about all the womens football teams playing in the Shetland league and cup competitions, as well as regular updates on the County teams.

 


We hope you will take a few moments to register an account on this site, membership of the website is free, is open to anyone regardless of whether you play football or not, and allows you to take part in the discussion forum, use the shoutbox and the many other features that will be added soon.
If you're having problems getting registered or would like some more information about womens football in Shetland, then send an email to the websites admin who will deal with your enquiry.

Scottish Cup Draw
NewsShetland have been drawn against Dunfermline Athletic in the first round of the Scottish Cup. It's looking like the game will take place on Saturday 22nd November, with the team travelling down on the friday night boat and coming back on Sunday.

Outdoor Training
NewsOutdoor training for those potentially involved in the Scottish Cup/Island Games squad is taking place at the Clickimin Rugby Park on Sundays from 1pm - 2:30pm and will be led by Derrick Bradley.
Everyone who is involved in the above squads is to make every effort to attend.

2008 AGM
NewsThe 2008 AGM is being held in Islesburgh house Room 9 on Thursday 13th November at 6:30pm. Items for the agenda should be emailed to the Secretary by 10th November.

A good attendance is requested as this is your chance to have a say on how Women's football in Shetland should progress.

Indoor Training
NewsShetland Women's FC are starting indoor training, beginning Tuesday 4th November from 6:30pm - 8pm at the Gilbertson Park Games Hall with a fee of £2 per session for all interested females over 14 years old.


These sessions will be led by Shetland Women's FC Development Coach John Ward and are aimed at those who would like to have a go at football, as well as those looking to improve their game. There's no need to book a place, just turn up on the night and give it a go!

End of season Football Tournament
News
End of season 7-a-side Football Tournament in Burra. Open to any interested female players, you can come as a team or as individuals and we'll sort you into teams. Refreshments will be available in Burra hall from 2pm. Enquiries to: Karen MacKelvie by 20th September
     
When? Saturday 27th September 2008 12pm - 4pm  
Where? Burra Football pitch  
Cost? £2.00 per player  

Please note this is very much dependant on the weather and may be subject to cancellation at short notice.

Wins for both Intercounty teams
NewsBoth Shetland 'A' and Shetland 'B' teams recorded good wins over an improving Orkney this weekend. Full match report from the 'B' team game in the 'Results/Reports' section, report from the 'A' game will be online soon.

Intercounty Fixture and Training arrangements
NewsThis year Shetland are travelling down to Orkney for the annual Intercounty fixture, scheduled for weekend 30th/31st August. Shetland are taking an 'A' and 'B' squad of 28 players in total. Selection for both squads is based on training being held at Clickimin Hockey Park every Wednesday from 7pm - 9pm until 27th August, those not able to make the trip are welcome to come to the training. The squads will be picked on Wednesday 13th August.

There's a training session with Debbie McCulloch from Ross County Fc on Friday 15th August 6 - 8pm at Clickimin Hockey Park and the following Saturday 11am - 12:30pm at Clickimin Hockey Park with Graeme Sutherland from the Scottish Football Association, again both sessions are open to all players but the Intercounty players are to make every effort to attend.

The teams will travel down on the Friday nights boat and both games will take place on Saturday, followed by a meal in the Ayre Hotel.

Kemnay Ladies FC
NewsKemnay Ladies FC are coming up to Shetland this weekend, arriving on Friday 18th July and leaving Sunday. They're heading up to Brae on Friday evening to play a Delting/Unst select and on Saturday they will face Shetland at 11am Gilbertson Park ahead of a Chinese buffet, 6pm at Baroc
We're looking for volunteers to help with transport for them, so if anyone can help or wants to come to the Buffet please phone Karen McKelvie on 07833126381.

Spectators are more than welcome to come and watch these games, so please come along if you can.

Delting triumph over Unst

great game tonight with Whitedale and Whalsay. shows that the league is going strong and not a 2 hourse race!!! Good competition and team spirit. Think changing the league format would be a mistake!
