Whitedale (7) v (4) Delting
Whitedale began the match meaning business by scoring two quick-fire goals through a Pauline Walterson brace.
Delting battled back and were causing the Whitedale rearguard some problems but Brenda Leask was coping well with the threat in the centre of defence.
On the counter attack the West Side team hit the Delts with a sucker punch when Lynda Flaws thumped a shot past Grace McGowan in the Delting goal.
Debbie Robertson pounced on a goalmouth scramble to haul the Delts back into the game, but just as they were looking to capitalise Marhi Moncreiff increased Whitedale’s lead with a neat finish.
As a storming half drew to a close Sara McGregor gave the Delts a lifeline with a well-taken strike.
Delting started the second half like their counterparts had begun the first and quickly scored through a Sara McGregor bullet header from a Karen Jarvie corner.
Delting now had the bit between their teeth and Josie Jamieson and Megan Burns were now in control of the midfield. The pressure finally paid off when McGregor completed her hat-trick with a fine strike from distance to pull the Delts level and send their travelling band of supporters into euphoria.
A real game was going on now with chances at either end including McGregor hitting the post. However, it was Karen McKelvie who put Whitedale back into the lead, heading home a Flaws corner.
Delting pushed for another equaliser but were undone by the pace of Walterson on the counter, who scored twice more to take her personal tally to four.
It is tough to single any players out but the lethal finishing of Walterson and McGregor were a real treat for the onlooking supporters.
